    Bandits kill policeman, vigilante in Sokoto

    Suspected armed bandits killed a police officer and a local vigilante officer in the early hours of Monday.

    The state police spokesperson, ASP Ahmed Rufai, stated that bandits ambushed the officers at their checkpoint while confirming the incident.

    “They ambushed them at the checkpoint at Milgoma junction along Sokoto – Bodinga road and shot them at close range.

    “One policeman, Inspector Eze, was killed while another local vigilante also died in the process,” he added

    The spokesman also verified that the armed bandits on the Sokoto–Isa road had been neutralized.

    The individual went on to clarify that during the Sunday night gunfight, one AK-49 was taken from the bandits.

    In August, in the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State, bandits burned two military vehicles and killed four soldiers.

    The Gobir Emirate’s police command declared that it was unaware of the 150 persons that had been abducted there.

    Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government and a state monarch, passed away unexpectedly while being held captive.
