Nigeria @64: Head of Civil Service Salutes Workers, Harps on Dedication, Commitment to Reformations
As Nigeria marks 64 years of independence, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has called on civil servants to reflect on their crucial role in the nation’s development.
In a statement issued on September 30, 2024, she praised the dedication and hard work of civil servants, describing them as the backbone of government operations.
Walson-Jack emphasized the need for civil servants to remain committed to the ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing the country’s civil service. She highlighted the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 as a key roadmap for enhancing the efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness of the civil service. According to her, the reforms require unwavering commitment and patriotism from every civil servant.
“True patriotism means performing our duties with excellence, understanding that our daily efforts are the driving force behind Nigeria’s advancement,” Walson-Jack said, adding that the diligence of civil servants would inspire trust in government and create a system that effectively meets the needs of the people.
She concluded by urging civil servants to continue working toward a civil service that is respected both within Nigeria and globally. “The best gift we can offer our fellow Nigerians on this Independence Day is to continue the march to greatness,” she added.
Walson-Jack’s message resonates with the theme of progress and reform, urging all public servants to contribute to the nation’s growth by performing their roles with dedication and integrity.
