Nigeria Takes Lead in Shaping Africa’s Economic Future at AU Summit

Nigeria is taking center stage in discussions on Africa’s economic future at the ongoing 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa.

The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s delegation at the summit, which is themed “Acceleration of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation.”

Edun is actively engaging in high-level discussions on economic stability, health financing, and the establishment of an Africa Credit Rating Agency—issues that align with Nigeria’s broader economic reform agenda.

With the AfCFTA taking center stage, Nigeria’s participation underscores its commitment to fostering economic integration, trade expansion, and sustainable growth across the continent. The summit serves as a platform for Nigeria to push for policies that will drive regional cooperation and economic resilience.

The AU gathering marks a crucial step in advancing Africa’s economic prospects, with Nigeria positioned as a leading voice in shaping policies for a more interconnected and prosperous continent.
