Dusk-to-Dawn Curfew imposed in Minna amid Security challenges
The Governor of Niger State, Farmer Umaru Mohammed Bago, has imposed a curfew in Minna, the state capital, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily, as part of efforts to address the recent surge in criminal activities, including attacks and killings across the city.
Governor Bago announced the development today during a high-level security meeting with traditional leaders and heads of security agencies at the Government House.
The new directive includes the restriction of movement for commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators during the curfew hours with exemptions for medical emergencies.
He emphasised that the curfew is a temporary measure intended to tackle the escalating security challenges in the capital.
Farmer Bargo who reaffirmed government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stated that it would not remain passive while criminal elements continue to endanger the public.

He also called on security agencies to intensify operations, dismantle criminal networks, and apprehend offenders while urging parents to caution their children, warning that anyone found engaging in violence or criminality would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Governor who stressed that the maintenance of public safety is a shared responsibility, called on all stakeholders to work collaboratively in order to restore peace in Minna.
