Ebonyi in shock as two Sisters Orchestrate Brother’s Kidnap, Collect N30m Ransom

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two sisters – Juliet Chukwu and Ngozi Nancy Chukwu, for allegedly orchestrating the kidnap of their elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu.

The sisters who are reportedly serving security personnel—Juliet with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Ngozi with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) hail from Amaeze village in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Sources revealed that Mr. Chukwu was abducted on June 2025 along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla.

His release was allegedly secured after a ransom of N30 million was paid, following pressure and manipulation from his own sisters, sources disclosed

According to reports, the duo were also allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Dennis Igwe, General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, along the same expressway.

Luck, however, ran out on them when, on Monday, July 14, security operatives tracked them to a hidden hotel where they were reportedly preparing to share the N10 million ransom paid for Igwe’s release.

The case has drawn significant attention online, with social media commentator Comrade Chika Nwoba calling on security agencies to act decisively and ensure the matter is not dismissed lightly. Nwoba also alleged that the sisters had ties to previous criminal activities in the Ishiagu area, including collaboration with suspected herders for staged kidnappings, looting of railway assets, and pipeline vandalism.

Confirming the arrest, the Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, stated that though the incidents occurred outside his jurisdiction in Enugu State, he has communicated with relevant security commands in both Enugu and Ebonyi.

He emphasized the need for proactive measures to ensure the safety of his constituents, adding that four other suspects still remain at large.
