Ogun Police Nab Two Suspects for Trafficking Teenage Girl to Libya
The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the trafficking of a 16-year-old girl, Zainab Ojelade, from Ogun State to Niger Republic, with Libya as her final destination.
Zainab, who was reported missing after she left home on September 14, was allegedly lured by one Latifat Eleyele of Ajibode Area, Sango-Ota, who promised to facilitate her travel abroad to join her husband in Libya.
According to security sources, Eleyele was apprehended shortly after the case was reported. During interrogation, she confessed that Zainab’s boyfriend, identified as Kehinde Amos, popularly known as Akaka, handed the teenager over to her for assistance in traveling overseas in pursuit of greener pastures.
Investigations revealed that the victim was later moved to a contact person in Sokoto State, who was expected to facilitate her journey across Niger and onward to Libya.
Amos was subsequently arrested, and both suspects are currently under investigation. The police said they would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for further action once preliminary findings are concluded.
