TCN, FIRE SERVICE CONDUCT FIRE DRILL AT ABUJA HEADQUARTERS
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), in collaboration with the Nigerian Fire Service, held a fire drill at its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja recently to test staff response to emergency evacuation procedures.
The exercise began with activation of the fire alarm system. TCN staff, Federal Ministry of Power personnel, and visitors evacuated the building to the designated muster point as part of the simulation to assess emergency preparedness.
General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Engr. Ahmed Rufai Ibrahim, described the drill as successful and commended the prompt response of staff, visitors, management, and fire service personnel. He said the exercise marked a significant step in strengthening emergency preparedness at the Headquarters.
Principal Manager, Fire Safety, Mr. Monday Johnson, praised the orderly evacuation and called for regular drills to sustain awareness and readiness.
Nigerian Fire Service representative Kolade John said the simulation underscored the need for familiarity with evacuation procedures in public buildings. “Fire incidents can occur at any time. Constant preparedness is essential,” he said.
The drill reflected TCN’s commitment to a safe working environment and effective emergency response.
