TCN Refutes AEDC’s Claim of Transmission Fault on Lokoja Axis
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted a public notice issued by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on 5th May 2026, which attributed the power outage in Zango, Shetima, Apansede, Phase I, Phase II, Crown Estate, and surrounding communities in Kogi State to a technical fault on TCN’s network.
In a statement issued today by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Ndidi Mbah, the company said: “All feeders at the Lokoja Transmission Substation serving the affected areas are fully operational. As of the time of this statement, there is no outage, fault, or scheduled maintenance on any TCN transmission infrastructure within the Lokoja axis. The company’s network in the region remains stable, and bulk power is being transmitted to AEDC at the required capacity for onward distribution to end consumers.”
TCN also dissociated itself from the fault referenced in AEDC’s notice and rejected any suggestion that its infrastructure is responsible for the disruption affecting consumers in the area.
The company reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaborative service delivery across the electricity value chain, and urged all sector partners to verify information before attributing supply disruptions to third parties. It added that publishing inaccurate or unverified claims not only misrepresents the facts but also erodes public confidence in the power sector.
TCN reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a reliable transmission network and said it will continue to engage constructively with stakeholders to improve electricity supply to Nigerians.
