TCN, AfDB Empower Kano Communities with Livelihood Support Under Mando–Rimin Zakara 330kV Project
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Kano Region, in partnership with the African Development Bank, AfDB, has empowered communities affected by the Mando–Rimin Zakara 330kV Quad Transmission Line Project with agricultural support in Kano State.
The two-day engagement held on June 25 and 26, 2026, at the Bayero University Kano, BUK, New Campus, brought together residents from Kiru, Rimin Gado, Kabo, and Tofa Local Government Areas.
As part of livelihood restoration, TCN and AfDB distributed improved maize and bean seedlings, and fertilizers to beneficiaries to boost productivity and support economic recovery.
Speaking during the programme, the Assistant General Manager, Transmission Services, TCN Kano Region, Engr. Ibrahim Aliyu, said the project is key to strengthening grid stability and improving electricity supply in the region.
In a statement by Ndidi Mba, TCN’s General Manager (Public Affairs), Engr. Aliyu urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the inputs provided and reminded all compensated persons to vacate the transmission line Right-of-Way, RoW, to ensure safety.
He noted that continued occupation or construction within high-voltage corridors poses serious risks to lives and property.
The sensitization reflects TCN and AfDB’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, fair compensation, and sustainable livelihood restoration as the project progresses.
