FG Unveils Discounted Online Shopping Platform for Armed Forces Personnel
The Federal Government has launched a discounted online shopping platform for personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, veterans and their families, as part of efforts to boost troops’ welfare.
A statement by the Head of Press and Public Relations in the OSGF, Chris Ugwuegbulam, said the Armed Forces of Nigeria Personnel Online Discount Shop was launched on Wednesday in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume.
The SGF who was Special Guest of Honour at the event, commended the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. O.O. Oluyede, the Defence Headquarters and other stakeholders for the initiative.
He said the welfare of those who serve the nation goes beyond operational capabilities, noting that a motivated and resilient Armed Forces is sustained by assurance that the wellbeing of personnel and their families remains a priority.
According to him, the initiative will ease financial pressures, improve access to essential goods and enhance the quality of life of personnel and their families.
The SGF said the platform, which leverages Konga in partnership with Zinox Group, demonstrates how technology and strategic partnerships can deliver practical benefits to citizens who have dedicated themselves to national service.
He welcomed the inclusion of veterans and their families, saying their sacrifices deserve continued recognition and support.
Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group. Akume said the MoU provides a framework for sustainable cooperation between the military and the private sector.
He urged Defence Headquarters to ensure transparent and reliable implementation, adding that the credibility of the initiative will be measured by the quality of service delivered to beneficiaries.
Akume thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to the welfare of the Armed Forces in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, and encouraged all eligible personnel to make effective use of the platform.
