Akume to CEOs: Push Tinubu’s Reforms to Grassroots, Correct False Narratives
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has charged Chief Executive Officers of Federal parastatals to take the administration’s reforms to the grassroots to counter disinformation.
Akume gave the charge in Abuja today when he received a delegation of the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals led by its Convener and Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Dr. Kazeem Raji.
The SGF, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, said there was a need for effective grassroots communication to correct false narratives that the reforms were meant to impoverish Nigerians.
“In your various domains where your power is operative, ensure that people become aware of these achievements. Push this message down to the grassroots, because one thing I’ve observed is a lot of disinformation. This reform policy is not meant to imprison or impoverish Nigerians,” Akume said.
He commended the Forum for promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and assured them of the institutional support of his office to achieve their goals.
Earlier, Dr. Raji announced that the Forum had conferred the position of Grand Patron on the SGF in recognition of his leadership and role in coordinating government machinery.
He said the Forum is targeting to mobilize 10 million votes for the re-election of President Tinubu in the 2027 general election through lawful, ethical and issue-based grassroots engagement leveraging their networks across the country.
One of the key objectives of the Forum he said, is to bridge the communication gap between government policies and the public.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. Chidiebere John Ezeamama, urged the Forum to establish a centralized digital platform for real-time information sharing and tracking of developmental milestones with the OSGF.
The SGF thanked the Forum for organizing into a cohesive body, noting that their target was achievable.
