Nigeria Airways: FG releases N4.25bn to clear 600 more beneficiaries
The Federal Government has paid N4.25 billion in outstanding pension and severance benefits to 600 more beneficiaries of the defunct Nigeria Airways Limited.
The payment, covering Batches 10 and 11, amounts to N4,251,043,000.19 in gross benefits.
In a statement by the Ministry’s Head of Media, Efe Ovuakporie, the latest disbursement brings the total number of beneficiaries paid across 11 batches to 3,300. The first nine batches covered 2,700 beneficiaries.
The payment brings financial relief to former workers and their families who have waited years for the settlement of entitlements linked to service with the former national airline.
Meanwhile, the verification and validation exercise for next-of-kin of former Nigeria Airways workers is ongoing. The exercise is aimed at establishing eligibility and confirming claims against approved records.
The Ministry assured that it will continue to process verified claims in line with approved procedures to ensure payments are made to only eligible beneficiaries.
The settlement underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to resolving verified legacy obligations in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
