The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has instructed its members to avoid participating in the ongoing nationwide protests.
In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, Abubakar Shettima, the national president, and James Terlumun, the national secretary, emphasized the importance of members focusing on their business activities.
These protests, which began on August 1, are in response to economic difficulties and rising inflation, and have been labeled ’10 Days of Rage’ with the hashtag #EndBadGovernance.
IPMAN highlighted the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in working towards economic recovery and encouraged Nigerians to engage in dialogue and constructive actions to voice their concerns.
The association stressed the need to avoid any actions that could lead to the destruction of lives and property under the guise of protest.
They also warned members to be wary of being misled by unidentified individuals who may not have the nation’s best interests at heart.
IPMAN noted that legitimate protests are typically organized by recognized groups with accountable leaders, which helps to maintain peaceful demonstrations.
They urged the public to steer clear of potential chaos that could result in violence and property damage.
