A severe flood has displaced Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State affecting more than 200 homes and displacing over 300 individuals.
The heavy rainfall, which began on Saturday and persisted into Sunday morning, has forced many victims to take refuge in public schools within the impacted villages.
The affected communities, including Bayawa, Tiggi, and Fakon Sarki within the Argungu Emirate, are currently using local schools as temporary shelters.
Kebbi’s Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Tafida, conducted an on-site assessment and provided immediate aid to the affected areas.
Each village received N5 million in initial support, with an additional N1 million allocated for emergency food and drinks.
Tafida has also instructed the creation of a list of affected households, which will be submitted to Governor Nasir Idris for further action.
As heavy rains continue, the situation remains dire in a state already identified as high-risk by NIMET.
