    Bayero varsity suspends lectures

The Management of Bayero University, Kano has ordered the immediate suspension of all scheduled lectures with immediate effect.

The directive, announced in a statement by Deputy Registrar of Public Affairs Lamara Garba on behalf of the Acting Registrar, was shared with The Punch on Monday.

“After a careful review of the situation in Kano State as a result of the National Protest, the University Management has directed that all scheduled lectures should be suspended forthwith,” the statement said.

The university’s management also expressed gratitude to the student body for its cooperation and support in preserving a calm environment on all of its campuses.

However, all administrative and academic activities will fully resume as soon as things get back to normal.

It advised students living on campus to keep their composure and follow the law because sufficient measures have been taken to guarantee their safety.

“The Management, in particular, is concerned with the safety of lives and property and, therefore, enjoins the members of the University community to continue to be cautious about their movements outside the campuses to avoid exposure to any possible danger,’ the statement added.

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, expressed his disappointment with the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests’ outcome, claiming that it had reversed years of advancement in the state.

The Emir expressed his dismay over the devastation of the Nigerian Communications Commission digital center, a multibillion-naira establishment meant to train and certify Kano’s youth in computer and internet usage.

Addressing newsmen at the Palace on Friday, the Emir said, “Today is a sad day for the people of Kano due to what has happened in the state. We sympathise with the entire indigent population of Kano.

Agents from the Kano State Police Command began searching homes on Saturday in an effort to find goods taken during the #EndbadgovernanceinNigeria demonstration in Kano.
