Tottenham Hotspur has strengthened their attacking lineup for the new Premier League season with the acquisition of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a transfer deal that could reach £65 million ($83 million).
The 26-year-old has signed a six-year contract with Spurs, costing an initial £55 million and up to an additional £10 million in add-ons.
Solanke, who began his career at Chelsea and had a brief stint at Liverpool, joined Bournemouth in 2019.
He enjoyed a standout season in 2023/24, netting 19 Premier League goals.
Solanke is anticipated to feature in Tottenham’s friendly against Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
If the full transfer fee is paid, Solanke will become Tottenham’s record signing.
This move comes after Tottenham opted not to sign a replacement striker following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last year.
Solanke will be key in helping manager Ange Postecoglou’s squad aim for a return to the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.
Bournemouth owner Bill Foley had previously confirmed that Solanke’s contract included a release clause around £65 million, making his transfer a club record, surpassing the £40 million received for Nathan Ake from Manchester City in 2020.
Bournemouth’s chief executive, Neill Blake, commented, “After Dominic’s performances for us – particularly his impressive 2023-24 season – it is no surprise that a team of Tottenham’s calibre has shown interest.
His development since arriving in 2019 is a testament to his work rate and the platform AFC Bournemouth provides for young talent.
We’re pleased to secure a club-record fee and wish Dominic all the best in his future endeavors.”.
