Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly submitted a formal transfer request to Napoli, signaling his intention to leave the club this summer.
Osimhen, who was a key player in Napoli’s Serie A title-winning season in 2022/23 with 26 goals, remains a valuable asset despite facing injury challenges.
He scored 17 goals across all competitions in the 2023/24 season.
Napoli has confirmed Osimhen’s transfer request, which comes amid ongoing speculation about his future.
He was notably absent from Napoli’s recent Coppa Italia match against Modena, which ended in a penalty shootout win for Napoli.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed the media before the Coppa Italia fixture, acknowledging Osimhen’s request and assuring that the club has capable replacements.
Manna emphasized the importance of maintaining team integrity and stated that the situation will be monitored in the coming days.
Osimhen, who has amassed 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for Napoli, has been linked with several top clubs this summer.
However, no offers have yet matched Napoli’s valuation. Paris Saint-Germain reportedly did not meet the asking price, and Chelsea has since shifted focus after signing Samu Omorodion.
