Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has officially returned to his duties and directed his staff to follow suit.
In a video posted on X.com on Monday, Shaibu stated, “In adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I announce my official resumption to the office. God Bless Edo State, God Bless Nigeria.”
Shaibu issued a firm directive for all staff who have not yet resumed work to do so immediately or face consequences.
He emphasized that the Federal High Court’s judgment confirming his reinstatement indicated that his office was never vacant.
He also warned banks against processing transactions related to his office without his explicit authorization, labeling such actions as illegal.
In his address, Shaibu expressed his sadness over the recent killing of a police officer assigned to the Edo APC governorship candidate.
He confirmed that suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
Additionally, Shaibu mentioned that he has requested the state governor’s approval to reinstate his aides but is still awaiting a response.
