WAEC Attributes Ogun Students’ Withheld Results to Technical Glitch

The Ogun State Branch Controller of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), Ayobami Suberu, has refuted claims that the results of some public school students in the state were withheld due to financial indebtedness.

In a statement released by Lekan Adeniran, Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun State Governor, Suberu addressed the media on Tuesday, clarifying the situation.

Suberu criticized an online media report, labeling it “mischievous and unbalanced,” and emphasized that the Ogun State Government does not owe any money to WAEC.

He explained that the delay in releasing the results of the affected students was due to a technical glitch, which is currently being resolved.

“The truth is, Ogun State is not owing WAEC a dime. A senior official from the Ogun State Ministry of Education contacted me about the report, and I clarified that it was inaccurate and misleading,” Suberu stated.

“The results were withheld because of a technical hitch, not because of any debt.

We are actively working to resolve the issue and expect to release the results by the close of business on Tuesday.”

Suberu also mentioned that there is ongoing communication between the branch office and the Head of the Test Administration Division of WAEC to ensure the timely release of the students’ results.
