EFCC’s X account not hacked spokesman reveals

The Economic and Financial Crimes Crime Commission refutes reports that it experienced a hack on its Twitter account, X account.

Rumors circulate that the EFCC’s X account was compromised by suspected online fraudsters who threatened to launch a cyberattack.

Reports state that some online scammers have charged the anti-graft commission with flouting constitutional provisions in their efforts to suppress questionable online activity among Nigerians.

When the account was checked on Thursday morning, it was found to be unavailable.

The agency’s Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as its website, were operational, though.

Dele Oyewale, a spokesman for the EFCC, stated in an interview on Thursday that the error was caused by an update made to the organization’s account.

He promised that the public would soon be able to access the account.

Oyewale said, “We are updating our records on the account. It was not hacked. It will soon start running.”
