Insecurity: NWDC Seeks Police Partnership, Requests Convoy Restoration for North-West Projects
The Managing Director of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), Prof. Shehu Ma’aji, has sought a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Police Force to tackle insecurity and accelerate development across the North-West.
This is contained in a statement by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Abdulrashid Yusuf Safana.
According to the statement, Prof. Ma’aji made the request during a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
He said the partnership would strengthen community policing and ensure safe movement of the Commission’s team during project inspection and monitoring tours across the seven states of the region.
Prof. Ma’aji specifically requested the restoration of police orderly and convoy attachment for the Commission’s leadership, citing the prevailing security challenges in the North-West.
He pledged the Commission’s readiness to support the Police Force with critical infrastructure and operational equipment to enhance its operations in the region.
Responding, the IGP, Mr. Tunji Disu, welcomed the proposal and assured that it would be given speedy consideration.
Disu said he has directed Commissioners of Police nationwide to work closely with government agencies and provide the necessary protection to enable them to discharge their mandates effectively.
He also saluted officers and men of the Force for their courage and resilience in confronting security challenges in the region.
Both leaders expressed optimism that the partnership would enhance security and accelerate the delivery of development projects for the people of the North-West.
