Chelsea Gains Advantage as Guardiola Confirms Key Player’s Absence

Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola has announced that star midfielder Rodri will miss their Premier League opener against Chelsea on Sunday.

Rodri, a key player for City, was instrumental last season, with the team not losing any league matches in which he participated.

Guardiola confirmed Rodri’s absence in his pre-match press conference, noting that the midfielder has yet to join any training sessions.

“He had zero training sessions with us; he’s not ready,” Guardiola said.

In contrast, Guardiola provided an update on players like Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Phil Foden, who had extensive involvement in the European Championships.

Although they have only had limited training sessions, Guardiola believes they are fit enough to participate. “They arrived fit, in good shape.

Today, in the professional world, the players take care of themselves even on holidays,” he explained.

Chelsea will host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 18, marking the beginning of both teams’ Premier League campaigns.
