Chelsea is emerging as the leading contender to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen, with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) facing challenges in their pursuit.
While PSG had been strongly linked with the Nigerian international, and Arsenal and Bayern Munich also expressed interest, Chelsea could be the last club standing in the race.
With Harry Kane now at Bayern Munich and Arsenal unlikely to support such a high-profile transfer, Chelsea and PSG are now the primary players for Osimhen’s signature.
Napoli, firm in their stance, has made it clear that Osimhen will not be part of their squad for the upcoming season.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna reiterated this position, stating, “He asked to leave.
We are calm because we have players who can replace him. We do not want to harm the integrity of the group and want to preserve it.
We will see what happens in the next few days.”
Although discussions for a loan move to Chelsea have occurred, Osimhen is reportedly not interested in a temporary switch, making PSG his most likely destination.
However, PSG must first offload one of their attackers, Randal Kolo Muani or Goncalo Ramos, to free up funds for the transfer.
Both players featured in PSG’s 4-1 victory over Le Havre, with Ramos providing an assist and Kolo Muani scoring a penalty.
Despite the win, head coach Luis Enrique is concerned about Ramos’s injury, which could affect the club’s transfer plans.
