The average price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) sold across Nigeria saw a 5.71 percent decline in July 2024 compared to the previous month, according to the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The report revealed that diesel prices dropped to N1379.48 per liter in July, down from N1462.98 per liter in June.
Despite this month-to-month decrease, diesel prices have risen significantly on a year-to-year basis, with a 73.63 percent increase from N794.48 per liter recorded in July of the previous year.
The report also highlighted state-by-state variations in diesel prices. The highest average prices were observed in Taraba State at N1721.79 per liter, followed by Borno State at N1694.17, and Bauchi State at N1619.54.
On the other hand, Kogi, Kano, and Osun States recorded the lowest average prices for diesel in July 2024, with Kogi at N1186.31 per liter, Kano at N1211.11, and Osun at N1246.82.
