The Federal Government has announced a bold initiative to transition from petrol-driven vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, poised to drastically reduce transportation costs and transform the Nigerian economy.
Transportation Minister, Said Alkali, assured that the switch to CNG would yield significant savings, solve public transportation challenges, and have a profound impact on the nation’s economy.
“By the time this CNG is put in place all over the country, we are going to have a drastic reduction in the cost of transportation.
“Already, we have a lot of CNG outlets in Abuja. It is the desire of President Bola Tinubu to provide this CNG outlets in the entire country,”he said.
President Bola Tinubu’s administration is driving this initiative, aiming to establish CNG outlets nationwide, providing safer and cheaper energy in the transportation sector, and ultimately reducing the cost of goods and services.
Former Special Adviser to the President, Sen. Ita Enang, endorsed the initiative, stating that CNG-driven vehicles would cut transportation costs by 90%, justifying the removal of subsidy on petroleum products.
The Chief Operating Officer of the International Liquified Natural Gas Energy Conversion, Transportation and Safety Company, Mr. Samuel Uko, pledged the company’s support for the government’s efforts to reduce transportation costs and combat inflation.
This initiative is a key component of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating the government’s commitment to easing the cost of living and transportation for Nigerians.
