Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has urged that Nigerians be informed about the cost, age, and operational history of the newly acquired presidential jet.
In a series of posts on his official X account on Tuesday, the former Governor of Anambra State emphasized that Nigerians also deserve details about the disposal of old jets, including their number, age, and reasons for their sale.
Obi stated, “With the new presidential jet now in the country, despite previous denials and controversies, it’s essential for Nigerian taxpayers to know the jet’s cost, its age, and its operational history, as disclosed by the French court.”
He further stressed the need for transparency regarding the disposal of old jets and called for the government to maintain high standards of transparency and accountability.
Obi added, “The government should provide clear information about its leadership. A presidential jet symbolizes national sovereignty and state power, and its cost is a matter of public accountability. Nigerians have the right to full disclosure about this new acquisition.”
