Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has declared the Park and Pay scheme in Abuja illegal.
Wike made this announcement during a live media session with journalists on Wednesday, marking his first year in office.
Wike revealed that he was alerted by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria about an attempt by individuals claiming affiliation with the Transport Secretariat to seize vehicles under the Park and Pay scheme.
His investigation revealed that private consultants were appropriating 80% of the collected revenue, leaving only 20% for the FCT administration.
Expressing his dismay at the findings, Wike vowed to take immediate action to dismantle the illegal operation and stressed the lack of proper oversight.
He urged the public to report any such irregularities to prevent further misuse of government funds.
