OpenAI, a trailblazer in artificial intelligence, has launched a groundbreaking feature allowing corporate customers and developers to fine-tune its cutting-edge GPT-4o model using their own data, starting at $25, effective September 24, 2024.
Olivier Godement, OpenAI’s head of product for API, emphasized the company’s efforts to streamline the fine-tuning process, making it more accessible and user-friendly.
Olivier Godement highlighted the company’s efforts to simplify the fine-tuning process. “We’ve been extremely focused on lowering the bar, the friction, the amount of work it takes to get started,” Godement said.
The fine-tuning feature, available to all paid plan users, enables businesses to tailor GPT-4o’s responses to suit specific needs, such as modifying tone, structure, and domain-specific instructions.
OpenAI has implemented rigorous safety protocols, including automated evaluations, to prevent misuse of fine-tuned models, ensuring responsible AI customization.
The fine-tuning process takes only one to two hours, allowing for swift implementation of customizations, with affordable pricing options, including 1 million free training tokens per day until September 23, 2024.
This feature, highly requested by developers, marks a significant milestone in AI customization, empowering businesses to create specialized applications, such as customer-service chatbots, with minimal training data.
