Nigerian players William Troost-Ekong and Nyima Nwagua have officially completed their transfers to Saudi Arabian clubs.
Ekong, 30, has moved from PAOK to Al Kholood, while Nwagua, the 2022 NPFL champion, has transitioned from Rivers United to Al Sadd.
The transfers were confirmed on Friday through social media announcements from their new clubs.
Per Walter Odigie, “2022 NPFL winner, Nyima Nwagua leaves Rivers United to join Saudi Arabia side Al Sadd. Congratulations skippo @Nyimason28.”
Ekong and Nwagua are part of a growing trend of Nigerian players making moves to the Middle East.
Notably, Odion Ighalo, who left Manchester United in 2021 to join Al Shabab, has enjoyed success in the region, winning the Saudi League, King Cup, and being the top scorer in his first season.
Ighalo currently plays for Al Wehda, having joined them as a free agent in 2023.
