Swedish football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who led England from 2001 to 2006, passed away on Monday at the age of 76 following a battle with pancreatic cancer, his agent, Bo Gustavsson, confirmed.
“He passed away peacefully this morning with his family around him at his home,” Gustavsson told AFP. Eriksson, known for taking England to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 and 2006, had announced in early 2023 that he was stepping back from public life due to health concerns. Despite his illness, his agent noted that Eriksson’s death happened more suddenly than expected.
Eriksson’s career spanned several countries and high-profile teams, marking him as one of the most well-known figures in international football management.
