A high court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to acknowledge Christopher Imumolen as the Accord Party’s (AP) national chairman.
Imumolen, who was the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, had filed a suit alongside 12 other party officials against Maxwell Mgbudem and 13 additional defendants.
Judge M.M. Adamu issued the ruling on Friday, which remains in effect until the court resolves the case.
The order prohibits the defendants from presenting themselves as national executives of the party and from organizing any state or local government congresses until the main case is decided.
Among those listed as defendants are Mgbudem, INEC, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), and ten other individuals.
The court is scheduled to hear the primary case on September 2.
