Paul Kagame Sacks 200 Soldiers From Army

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda on Friday announced the dismissal of more than 200 members of the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF).

Those sacked include 21 senior and junior officers.

The RDF’s statement confirmed that Martin Nzaramba and Etienne Uwimana were among those removed, along with 19 other officers.

The decision also saw the termination of contracts for 195 additional RDF personnel.

While the official statement did not specify the reasons for these dismissals, Rwandan law allows for the removal of military staff for “gross misconduct.”
