Police arrest seven suspected armed robbers in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested seven suspected armed robbers during a foiled robbery attempt in the Kubwa area of Abuja.
Police sources at the Command said the arrest was made on July 7 at about 2:00 a.m. by a patrol team from Kubwa Division while on routine surveillance along Arab Road.
“The suspects, all male residents of Arab Road, were identified as Jamilu Bello, Suleiman Baba, Zaradeen Saidu, Abdulazeez Sani, Bala Mohammed, Sahabi Tukur, and Jamilu Abdullahi,” the sources said.
The sources disclosed that the suspects, armed with cutlasses, clubs, and other dangerous weapons, had jumped through a fence into a residential area in an attempt to carry out a robbery.
“A vigilant local security guard raised an alarm, which drew the attention of an ambush patrol team nearby. The officers responded swiftly and succeeded in apprehending all seven suspects,” sources added.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects are part of a notorious gang known for breaking into homes at night to rob unsuspecting residents.
Police say the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing intensive interrogation.
