Kidnapping Incident Sparks Fear in Asokoro Community

A community in Asokoro Extension, Kpaduma 3, Abuja, was thrown into chaos on Monday night when gunmen attacked houses and exchanged fire with local vigilantes. The attack, which lasted for several hours, was described as one of the most terrifying incidents in the community, with bullets and grenade-like blasts heard by neighbours

According to eyewitnesses, the invaders, believed to be from a nearby village called Kobi, shot one of the vigilantes, Bako, raped two girls and injured several others. A resident questioned why the particular house was targeted, noting that the occupants had requested security upgrades from the landlord months earlier, but their requests were ignored.

The Guzape Division of the Nigeria Police Command arrived later, and residents reported that calm returned only after the officials were deployed. The police took the injured girls to Asokoro Hospital but have yet to issue a public statement on the incident.

Residents are now demanding visible patrols in the area, better perimeter security, and quicker police response. Fear and frustration have become the norm in the community, with security concerns escalating.

We will continue to follow up for official comments from the police and any updates on arrests or casualties.
