    PS Environment Says Policies from 18th NCE will strengthen Environmental sustainability

    The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment, Mahmud Adam Kambari, has expressed confidence that the 18th National Council on Environment (NCE) will strengthen environmental sustainability policies in Nigeria.

    He made this statement during the opening of the Technical Session of the 18th NCE meeting in Katsina, Katsina State.

    Kambari noted that the Council, which is the highest policy-making body, will provide an opportunity for all stakeholders to review progress, address emerging challenges, and adopt resolutions shaping national environmental policy.

    According to him, this year’s theme, “Tackling the Triple Planetary Crisis of Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss and Pollution for Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” highlights the urgent need for collective action against threats to the ecosystem, food security, health and sustainable development aspirations, among others

    He commended the Government and people of Katsina State for their warm hospitality and partnership, the Minister of Environment for his visionary leadership, State Commissioners of Environment Development Partners, and all other relevant stakeholders for their commitment to the Nigerian Environmental sustainability.

    Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Service to the Katsina State Government and Chairman Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Council, Falalu Bawale stated that the presence of the participants was a testament to government’s resolve to maintain environmental sustainability, deepen effective efforts of utilizing professional expertise to ensure that our environment is adequately maintained.

    He appreciated the Federal Ministry of Environment for hosting the event in the State.
