NISO ANNOUNCES 32-HOUR PLANNED OUTAGE ON JOS-BAUCHI-GOMBE 330KV LINE FOR OPGW INSTALLATION
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) wishes to notify electricity consumers and stakeholders of a planned outage on the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line.
The outage is scheduled to commence from *9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026*
The planned interruption is to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out the connection of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the 330kV line.
During the outage period, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola and surrounding areas are expected to experience an interruption in electricity supply.
The Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV transmission line will also be taken out of service to ensure a safe working environment for the maintenance activity.
A statement issued by the NISO Management disclosed that the installation of the OPGW forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transmission infrastructure and enhance the reliability, monitoring and communication capabilities of the national grid.
NISO appreciates the understanding and cooperation of electricity market participants and electricity consumers in the affected areas, while regretting any inconvenience the temporary interruption may cause.
