Suspected Child Abductor Escapes Mob Attack In Abuja

A suspected child abductor, Bashir Usman, has escaped jungle justice after he was rescued by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for allegedly attempting to abduct a five-year-old girl in Kuje.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Adeh said the Command received a distress call at about 2:46 p.m. on October 4, that an unidentified man was being beaten by an angry mob over an alleged attempt to abduct a child.

Following the report, operatives from Kuje Division were deployed to Angwan Lado in Kuje Area Council, where the suspect was rescued from the crowd.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was being assaulted by the mob over allegations that he attempted to abduct a five-year-old child in front of her residence in Angwan Lado,” Adeh said.

The suspect has been taken into protective custody, while investigation has been expanded to ascertain his activities and arrest possible accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, condemned jungle justice, warning that such acts constitute murder under the law and obstruct the course of justice.

He urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and closely monitor the safety of their children and wards.

The Command also advised residents to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines: *08028940883* and *08032003913*(Daily Sun)
