FG Orders Strict Compliance With Ebola Entry Protocols At Airports, Borders

The Federal Government has ordered strict compliance with approved Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) entry protocols at all points of entry into the country.

The directive was contained in a circular dated October 22, 2026, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Daju Kachollom, on behalf of the Coordinating Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, according to a statement by the Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, Ado Bako

The circular noted that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) had raised concerns over reported non-compliance with the Federal Government-approved EVD entry protocols.

The Ministry said there must be consistent, effective and non-discriminatory enforcement of the measures to prevent cross-border transmission and protect public health and national security.

It directed relevant institutions to ensure strict adherence to prescribed screening, health declaration, surveillance and other entry requirements, and to strengthen coordination and information-sharing for early detection and prompt response.

All concerned institutions were also urged to promptly report any breach or attempted breach through established channels, support enforcement officials, and establish monitoring and accountability mechanisms.

The Ministry stressed that personnel enforcing the protocols should be allowed to discharge their duties professionally without undue interference.

It further directed immediate dissemination of the advisory to relevant departments, field offices and personnel, urging all MDAs to accord the directive highest priority.
