    19 Dead in Borno Bombing

At least 19 people have been reported dead following an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) at a local establishment in the Kawuri community, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The blast, which occurred on Wednesday, also resulted in numerous injuries.

The explosion is believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, known for their activities in the North-East. This incident follows a series of recent attacks, including one that killed seven Nigerian soldiers.

A government official, speaking to Daily Trust, confirmed that the bomb detonated around 8:05 pm at a local tea spot where villagers were gathering.

The official noted that while it was suspected to be a planted bomb rather than a suicide attack, the exact details remain unclear.

The dead and injured were transported to an undisclosed hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.

This bombing comes just hours before planned nationwide protests across Nigeria addressing issues of hunger. Nigerian youths are set to begin demonstrations in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory today, Thursday.
