392 Suspected Looters Arrested in Kano Following NCC Park Riots

The Kano State police command has arrested 392 individuals suspected of looting the NCC Industrial Park during the nationwide hunger and hardship protests on Thursday.

The suspects were also connected to looting incidents at the Kano High Court and other locations.

Police spokesman Abdullahi Kiyawa briefed journalists on Friday, stating that the suspects were apprehended with a significant number of stolen items.

The NCC park, which had recently been constructed, was reportedly targeted by hoodlums on Thursday.

The ICT center, scheduled to be commissioned next week, was set ablaze during the unrest.

Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes at the ICT center, with protesters stealing desktop computers, chairs, keyboards, and other valuable equipment before setting the facility on fire.

In response to the violence, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf declared a 24-hour curfew across the state on Thursday.

“We are deeply concerned by the turn of events and are taking all necessary measures to restore order.

I urge all residents to remain indoors as security agencies work to enforce the curfew,” Governor Yusuf said.
