Minister of Steel Appeals to Nigerians to Halt Protests, Promises Job Creation

Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Minister of Steel Development, has urged Nigerians to suspend their protests against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement from his Special Assistant on Media, Lizzy Okoji, Audu emphasized that President Tinubu is actively addressing the country’s economic issues and working to fulfill governance expectations by 2027.

Audu highlighted the administration’s achievements, particularly the revival of steel plants aimed at generating 500,000 jobs.

He also mentioned efforts to alleviate economic hardships, such as implementing a N70,000 minimum wage and promoting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to reduce transportation costs.

Additionally, the administration is distributing uplift grants to families and working on lowering food prices within 180 days by importing wheat and maize.

Audu called for dialogue over protests, noting ongoing reforms and investments across sectors, including healthcare improvements through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

He reassured that these initiatives are part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda to build a better Nigeria.

Meanwhile, protests continue, with reports of violence and casualties from the Nigeria Police Force.
