The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it is no longer detaining any participants from the ongoing protests against hardship in the state.
The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated in an interview that all individuals arrested during the Thursday demonstration were released on the same day.
The directive for their release was issued by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, who instructed the State CID accordingly.
Inibehe Effiong, a leader of the protests, reported at Gani Fawehinmi Park that approximately 12 protesters had been arrested on Thursday but confirmed later that all had been freed.
Effiong praised the professionalism of the police and security agents in handling the protests. On Friday, protesters gathered at Ojota Park for the second day.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police attended the event to oversee proceedings and prevent any disturbances.
The commissioner also provided water and snacks to the protesters. The demonstrators paused their activities temporarily to observe Jumat prayers at the park.
