    Military Warns Against Violent Protests

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued a stern warning to protesters, urging them to remain peaceful and avoid property destruction.

The military said it is prepared to intervene to restore order if directed by higher authorities.

During a press briefing, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa emphasized the professionalism of security agencies, particularly the Police, in handling the demonstrations.

He highlighted the distinction between peaceful protests and criminal activities, noting that recent protests began peacefully but were quickly disrupted by individuals with malicious intent.

The General reiterated that the military and other security forces would not tolerate continued destruction and would take professional action against those causing unrest.

He appealed to Nigerians, especially the youth, to prevent criminals from exploiting the protests to harm the country and urged patience with the government’s efforts to address economic and security challenges.

Additionally, General Musa called on the media to avoid giving undue coverage to disruptive elements, as such exposure only fuels further chaos.

He reminded the public that the government needs time to implement policies and achieve positive results, asking for collective support to bring about peace and economic recovery.
