Atiku Bagudu, the minister of budget and economic planning, disclosed in an interview on Channels Television that he and his fellow ministers earn a monthly salary of less than N1 million.
He explained that their salaries are determined by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
During the interview, Bagudu emphasized that ministers, like all public officials, have their payments regulated by the RMAFC.
He mentioned that he owns one official vehicle but prefers to drive his personal Camry to set an example as the minister of budget.
When questioned about additional allowances for ministers, Bagudu expressed uncertainty, stating he was unaware of any specific allowances beyond what the RMAFC stipulates.
He assured that this information is publicly available and can be shared for verification.
Bagudu also expressed concern over the high cost of governance, noting that he is familiar with the country’s financial allocations and finds the situation troubling.
