We Didn’t Use Live Bullets On Peaceful Protesters – Police

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has denied allegations that security agencies used excessive force against #EndBadGovernance protesters.

Speaking at a meeting of security agency heads in Abuja, Egbetokun said that neither the police nor the military used live ammunition during the protests.

Instead, he stated that security operatives faced attacks while managing the demonstrations.

Egbetokun asserted that no security agency involved in the protest management deployed excessive force, contrary to claims circulating in the media.

He revealed that there were no shooting incidents by the police and mentioned that some officers were injured and remain in critical condition.

Dismissing the allegations as false, Egbetokun clarified that the police refrained from using their full capabilities, such as water cannons and rubber bullets, relying solely on teargas to manage the protests, even when they turned violent.
