The support staff of Warri Refinery & Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPCL) are set to resume their protest on August 19.
The workers have expressed dissatisfaction with their working conditions and are calling for a review.
They have addressed an open letter to Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, detailing their grievances.
The letter, signed by Ighomitedo Dafe and other representatives, spoke on issues such as poor remuneration, lack of essential allowances, and unfair hiring practices that exclude long-serving staff.
They argued that the current conditions amount to workplace exploitation and have called for immediate reforms.
The support staff have a history of agitating for better conditions since 2015, including demands for permanent employment status.
Despite various promises, they claimed that no substantial improvements have been made.
They said that many of their colleagues were laid off and that those remaining continue to work under poor conditions.
The workers urged the Senate President to intervene and ensure the implementation of a fair remuneration package that includes allowances for housing, transport, hazard, meals, medical care, insurance, leave, and pension.
They also requested that at least 50% of support staff be considered for permanent roles during recruitment.
