The American rapper Travis Scott was taken into custody in Paris following a physical altercation at the opulent George V hotel with his bodyguard and a security guard.
Police were called to the scene at five in the morning, according to the authorities, to break up the fight. Scott was then taken into custody on charges of “violence against another person.”
The incident happened on Friday, a few hours after Scott had watched the US play Serbia in the men’s basketball semifinals at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
An inquiry has been launched into the incident, according to a representative for the Paris prosecutor’s office. Scott was detained on suspicion of “violence against a security guard,” who had tried to break up the altercation between Scott and his bodyguard.
Paris prosecutor’s office in a statement, said: “Policemen were called to the Georges V hotel and arrested Travis Scott for violence against a security agent. The latter had intervened to separate the singer from his bodyguard.”
