In a bold operation, troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have dealt a significant blow to oil thieves in the Niger Delta, destroying 27 illegal refining sites and confiscating over 100,000 litres of stolen crude.
The army’s spokesperson, Lt. Col Jonah Danjuma, announced that troops have been conducting extensive operations, achieving remarkable successes in destroying illegal refining sites, making arrests, and seizing stolen products.
Notably, troops of 29 Battalion destroyed 23 newly established illegal refining sites, confiscating 2 storage reservoirs containing over 80,000 litres of stolen crude, and seized 3 vehicles loaded with illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil estimated to be over 8000 litres.
Troops of 16 Brigade, in conjunction with other security agencies, discovered and destroyed 4 illegal refining sites with 3 metal drums and pits containing stolen crude estimated to be over 6000 litres in Cowthorne Channel II, Degema Local Government Area.
