The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has taken action by sealing four filling stations and two gas plants in Eket, Akwaibom State.
This measure was taken due to the failure to renew licenses and inadequate maintenance.
Ikechukwu Eseka, the NMDPRA Coordinator, disclosed this during an inspection of petrol stations in Uyo on Friday.
The sealing actions, which were specifically targeted at facilities in Uyo, were prompted by issues related to expired licenses and poor maintenance practices.
Eseka issued a warning to marketers about the risks of under-dispensing, hoarding, or diverting petroleum products.
The NMDPRA is also actively monitoring facility maintenance to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards across the state.
