Olu of Warri’s third coronation anniversary begins Monday

Celebrations marking the third coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, will commence on Monday at the palace with a praise and worship session.

Chief Solomon Arenyeka, the Eson of Warri kingdom and Chairman of the anniversary’s publicity/media committee, revealed this to reporters in Warri, Delta State, on Saturday during the unveiling of the anniversary’s scheduled programs.

Arenyeka said that Tuesday’s commemorative lectures and homage-paying ceremonies will take place at the Palace starting at noon, capping off the week-long celebration.

According to the schedule, the palace will host an anniversary celebration and homage on Wednesday, August 21.

On Thursday, August 22, there will be homage paying at Ode Itsekiri and the presentation of a drama/play.

On Friday, August 23, there will be an homage paying and novelty match featuring Olori Ladies at Ode Itsekiri.

At the palace on Saturday, August 24, there will be a music and poetry concert in honor of Atuwatse III as well as an awards ceremony for distinguished Itsekiri sons and daughters.

“Sunday, August 25, which is the grand finale will feature a thanksgiving service at the palace,” Arenyeka stated.

Itsekiri groups have already flooded social media with goodwill messages on Facebook, X, TikTok, and other platforms, announcing the third anniversary of Ogiame Atuwatse’s coronation.

Recall that on August 21, 2021, the monarch ascended to the throne of his ancestors during a vibrant coronation ceremony at Ode Itsekiri, the nation’s ancestral home in Warri South Local Government Area.
